Motion capture that I animated on top of using animation layers in Maya

Here is what the mocap data looks like before I work on it:

THESIS PROJECT - NEW BOUNTY

NOTE:
New Bounty was my thesis film at USC. I performed as all of the characters in my motion capture suit at the USC Zemeckis center. I also recorded, cleaned, merged the data with the character rigs, and corrected the rigs' animation with additive keys. Below you will find highlights of my motion capture work. See the full film on my thesis blog page.

APPLE VISION PRO AVATAR

I was recently approached by prior Apple intern / soon-to-be employee Jenny Kim. I worked with her to convert her personal project avatar "Unfoxy Fox" from a 2D concept into a 3D animated character, which was to be ported to the Apple Vision Pro.

After attempting to use a blendshape face system to capture the pliable cartoony nature of UFF in V1, we realized via extensive troubleshooting that the Vision Pro was unable to read the blendshape data, so UFF V2 was created, utilizing a traditional real-time skeleton-based face rig wherein expressions were created by moving the facial muscles instead.

Here are several several animations I created for both V1 and V2:

LEO LI'S USC THESIS PROJECT - DECOY

NOTE:
I did motion capture performance and motion capture cleanup on Leo Li's '22 thesis project, "decoy". See below: I corrected rotations on joints to make the performance transfer more smoothly / realistically to the rig. Top: before, Bottom: after.

LAYOUT & BLOCKING

I was a previsualization intern at Proof Inc, where I worked on a new stop-motion show on Apple TV+, Shape Island. Here is the trailer for season 1!
